Village for Vets Statement on the Tiny Shelter Fire at CTRS on September 9, 2022

Village for Vets learned early this morning of last evening’s fire at the VA’s Care, Treatment, and Rehabilitative Services (CTRS) Program on the WLA Campus.  We are grateful that there were no severe injuries or loss of life and are committed to ensuring every Veteran is safe and has immediate access to the resources they need. We are working closely with our partners at the VA to deploy an expeditious resolution response and to better understand the causes. At this time, we know that at least 11 Shelters were completely destroyed by the fire, with another 10+ sustaining some form of fire damage.

While details are still unfolding, our main priority remains centered on serving and supporting the Veterans who were impacted by this tragedy, as their health and safety is paramount. Village For Vets Staff have been on-site throughout the day, engaging Veterans, providing clothing and addressing their most pressing needs.
