Village for Vets, Brentwood School, & The Veteran’s Collective Deliver Welcome Home Kits to Veterans

This month, a team of students, staff, and volunteers from Brentwood School and Village for Vets mounted an effort to assemble 179 welcome home kits for Veterans. These Vets will be moving into permanent supportive housing in buildings 205, 207, & 208 on the West LA VA Campus. Leasing has already begun for building 207 and Veterans are moving in this month.

Each kit includes all the basic living essentials to make an apartment feel like home. Necessities like cookware, cleaning supplies, hygiene items, and so much more were all packed with care and a hand written welcome home card made by BWS students. On February 13, 58 of the kits were hand delivered with the help of Brentwood School, Village for Vets, and UCLA Army ROTC Students. The Remaining kits will be assembled and delivered in the coming weeks as the buildings are completed.

These kits full of living essentials mean so much to Veterans moving into housing. It’s the difference between walking into an empty apartment and being welcomed home.
